Microbial Food Technology
 
Food technology is the application of food sciences to the selection, preservation, processing, packaging, distribution and use of safe nutrition & wholesome food.
Food scientists & food technologists study the physical, chemical & microbial make up of food. Depending on their area of specialization, food scientists may develop ways to process, preserve, package or store food, according to industry & government specifications & regulations. A plethora of employment opportunities are available in following streams
  1. Research & Development: towards betterment of Yield, appearance, flavor, nutritive value of packaged foods in Govt. Universities & Institution e.g. CFTRI
  2. Public Sector:    as food inspectors, health inspectors e.g. in PFA
  3. Programme Consultants: with organizations like UNICEF, WTO, FAO
  4. Govt. Sector: like FCI purchase, storage, transport & distribution of food grains & other food materials
  5. Freelance Consultants
  6. Health Educators/ Diet Consultant
  7. Entrepreneur
  8. Food Industries: Microbiological Analyst, QC Executive, Production Manager, Sales & Purchase etc.

Bio chemistry, Principle of food processing, Food Microbiology, r-DNA tech, Fermentation Tech, Microbial Tech, Cereal Tech, Environment Technology, Food Engineering, Dairy & Meet Technology, Fruit, Vegetable & Cereal Technology, Total Quality Management & Commercial Food technology.
 
Eligibility
 
FOR B.Sc.:
10+2 from P.S.E.B/C.B.S.E or any other examination recognized as equivalent with Medical/Non medical subjects.
Course Duration- 6 Semesters / 3 Years
 
FOR  M Sc.

B.Sc. (Life Sciences/ Biological/ Medical/ Engineering/ Food/ Agriculture/ Home Science).
B.Sc. (Mathematics/ Statistics/ Physics/ Chemistry with minimum 50% Marks.
